Can you please introduce yourself in one sentence?
Hello, I'm Sarah. I am primarily a space holder; a yoga teacher, a business owner and a mother.
What drives you, and what's your purpose for doing what you do?
I operate from a place of curiosity. What new information can be found in this seemingly mundane, repetitive or contracted experience? I don't consider anything I do as finished but rather a continual process of playful exploration. Whether through movement, growing a community, or creating something tangible, like the seasonal incense I launched last year, everything is joyful when it's looked at through the lens of curiosity.
Anything you want to do that you haven't done yet (creatively)?
I'm publishing a poetry book, Mother Made Me, this Easter, which has long been a quiet dream of mine, scintillating in my notes app.
If you hadn't founded SALA, what would you be doing?
I would always want to teach yoga because that's truly when I am happiest, but if I didn't have SALA I would live in the Balearic Islands.
What's the best lesson you've learnt in your (craft) journey?
Not everyone will like you or what you do, and that's so fine.
What piece of advice has been given to you, that you would like to pass on?
You can do anything, but not everything. Prioritise what is important to you.
What or who are you currently inspired by?
I love female creation in all forms. I love ceramics by Polly Fern and Hilary Green. I love Adornment by Harris Tapper and Jasmin Sparrow. I love stories by Patti Smith and Sylvia Plath and songs by Aldous Harding and Charlotte Gainsbourg. I love being part of the rich webbing of female awakening, revealing itself in all creative forms.
Where is your happy place?
Cocooned by female energy, late at night, over a bottle of red. Telling stories, weaving dreams.
